HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Just a brief reminder that we normally have SawStop table saws in stock; as well as one of the larger Festool inventories in the Northwest.
OUR NEXT "NETWORKING STARTER" EVENT!!
Our next event will be Tuesday, January 13, 2009, 7 am - 8:30 am at your Seattle Woodcraft store. This starter event simply helps you start your day off right - facilitating information exchanges for all of you in the woodworking field. That's right, you can enjoy FREE breakfast refreshments to help START your day, networking with other professionals and interested woodworkers to possibly augment the START of new work projects, and to START meeting and greeting others who share your woodworking passion. Join us!
Speaking of Classes...any of the Rob Cosman classes in January or the Windsor Chair class in February, would make a terrific Valentine's Day gift.
Can You Spare Three Minutes and 40 Seconds??
This is cool - go to You Tube, and search for "tails first dovetail" and one of the selections that should pop up is for our friend's: "Rob Cosman's three and a half-minute dovetail" video. Check it out. Rob demonstrates his technique...and yes the construction does take 10 seconds longer than originally stated, but the good news is that Rob will be back with us in January, and you can witness his technique up close and personal during the classes we have planned.
Also on You Tube...search for "Mirror Coat" (the great System Three product) and you'll note that they filmed the video in Seattle Woodcraft's classroom! We knew your Seattle Woodcraft store might be famous someday! ;-)
Can You Spare Another 5 Minutes??
Again, on You Tube, check out the video of SawStop inventor, Paul, actually putting his finger into the turning table saw saw blade...captured in slow motion for the Discovery Channel. This is incredible and amazing...so check it out! (And remember we're a local SawStop dealer and usually have them "in stock.")
FUN CONTESTS FOR YOU!!
Even more fun...enter Freud's Open The Door to Italy Contest! Build an interior door using Freud's highly acclaimed "entry and interior door" router bit sets and you could win a trip to Freud's headquarters in Udine, Italy, and a private boat tour of Venice! Now through January 15, 2009; go to: www.woodmagazine.com/door for more details and official rules. (It's a trip for two to a beautiful part of the world!) This prize is valued at over $12,000!
NEW PRODUCTS:
Just in: New turning products from Sierra Mold Co - recommended by Capt. Jack; Billy recommends the new pen makers' bits; new copper pen kits, and other turning kits; Rob Cosman's shaker box kits, dovetail markers and new DVDs; German-based Stabila's levels; new Fox-Chapel book titles; and Youngstown work gloves; by-the-way...ask Ron about his Blaklader work pants. Also, the feedback on the "Doctor's Woodshop" finishes has been very positive.
Rob Cosman - classes have been scheduled for the weekend of January 23rd, 2009. The Saturday class will be "hands-on" with a limited number of openings; the Friday classes will be repeats of the popular ones we've hosted before. His classes are now posted in our class section link. They include: Hand-cut dovetails, hand-cut mortise and tenon, and hand plane & sharpening, as well as the 'hands-on' class.
We've also re-booked dates with Master Windsor Chairmaker, Dave Hamilton; offering a Windsor Rocking Chair class, or Continuous Arm Windsor chair, for February 2009. Dates are: Friday, Feb. 13, Saturday, Feb. 14, and Sunday, February 15. This class makes a great holiday gift!
Just so you know, we're "green" too - yes, your Seattle Woodcraft store recycles; we even cut-up our 'used' paper to then re-use for scrap paper!
Do You Know About Our Weekly E-Mail Newsletter?
Please make sure you are signed-up to get the "Seattle" Woodcraft version of our e-mail newsletter. How would you know which version you are now getting? The Seattle version always starts with: "Dear Friend of Seattle Woodcraft" and ends with "Helping You Make Wood Work..." You can change your sign-up at any time for the Seattle version; just go to woodcraft.com or woodcraftnews.com page and "update your subscription by indicating that you live close to the 'Seattle' Woodcraft store and would like to be notified of local in-store events and specials." Since the monthly hard copy flier is generally on a four month advance planning cycle, we do use our weekly email newsletter for last minute updates about store happenings.
