Router Skills 101

Description: The router is arguably the most versatile tool in the shop. In this class you will learn how to choose and set up plunge and fixed base routers for basic operations. We will discuss cutter selection and use various profiles to safely route decorative edging and cut basic joinery(rabbets and dados). This is a "hands on" class.

Pen Turning

Router Table Basics

Hand Cut Dovetails.

Advanced Finishing

Description: Join Tim as he takes us a step further with our finishing skills! Tim will cover Hard to stain woods, Shellacs, Acrylics, Urethanes, and Color mixing with dyes and tints. He will also cover brushing versus spraying. Have you ever wondered why your finish just doesn't look like the manufacturers samples? Tim will show you. This seminar, coupled with your willingness to go the extra step will make the difference between your project being "nice" and "outstanding". Wear shop clothes and bring an apron if you have one. This seminar will include "hands-on" experience.

Chip-Carving Basics

Turn A Green Wood Natural Edge Bowl.

Description: Join John Sheets as he teaches us the fundamentals of Bowl Turning and Green Wood Turning, by making a Natural Edge Bowl. The bowl will be turned from green wood and follow the natural contour of the log. It may or may not retain the natural bark edge. John is a juried Tamarack artisan, teacher, and demonstrator. John will cover the fundamentals of green wood turning, wood selection and usage, Blank preparation, Mounting options, Basic design and Turning. He will also cover Finishing and Sanding principles.

Carve a Walking Stick
